A high-temperature HEPA or other high-efficiency filter must be selected as a complete assembly. The usable temperature is limited by the lowest-rated component, including the media, separator, adhesive or sealant, gasket, frame, and any protective screen. A universal continuous or peak temperature should not be quoted without a confirmed product construction and test basis.
Confirm the required efficiency class and applicable test standard, filter dimensions, rated airflow, initial and final pressure drop, continuous and peak temperature profile, exposure duration, humidity, chemical vapors, frame material, gasket or seal design, installation orientation, and required test documentation.
Microglass media, separator materials, sealants, and gasket systems do not all have the same thermal limits. Temperature capability should therefore be stated for a specific configuration and operating cycle rather than copied from a generic product description.
High-temperature final filters may be considered for compatible drying, curing, oven, or process-air systems that require documented particle-control performance. The filter must be reviewed together with the housing, seal, fan capacity, airflow distribution, and process conditions. It should not be assumed that every high-efficiency filter is suitable for heated service.
Where a final high-efficiency stage is required, review the available HEPA and ULPA filter formats. Use an appropriate pre-filter stage where system design allows, because upstream loading can affect pressure drop and replacement frequency.
Inspect the filter and housing for damage, seal integrity, correct installation direction, and abnormal pressure-drop behavior. Final filters are generally replaced rather than washed unless the manufacturer has specifically validated a cleanable construction. Replacement timing should be based on the system limit, operating data, inspection, and required integrity or efficiency testing—not a fixed number of months.
