Dust Filter Bag Snap-Band Fit Problems: Inspection Checklist
A filter bag that will not seat correctly in the cell plate is usually a dimensional or installation-matching issue. Before replacing bags, inspect both the bag top construction and the cell-plate opening.
1. Measure the cell-plate opening
Confirm the actual hole diameter at several positions. Check whether the opening is round, oval, tapered or deformed. Compare the measured dimensions with the approved dust collector drawing rather than relying only on a nominal size.
2. Inspect the hole edge and plate condition
Burrs, sharp edges, corrosion, weld distortion and uneven plate thickness can prevent the snap band from seating correctly or damage the filter bag during installation. Record the plate thickness and edge condition.
3. Confirm the filter bag top construction
Provide the finished bag diameter, snap-band dimensions, bead or cord arrangement, felt thickness and top construction drawing. Different manufacturers may use different snap-band structures for the same nominal bag diameter.
4. Check installation method
The snap band should be installed evenly around the opening. Folding, twisting or forcing the band can create an incomplete seal. Verify that the bag hangs vertically and that the cage can be inserted without excessive force.
5. Information needed for replacement review
Send the cell-plate hole diameter, plate thickness, bag diameter and length, top and bottom construction, cage dimensions, quantity, operating temperature, dust characteristics and photos of the existing installation. A sample bag or approved drawing is recommended when tolerances are critical.
