Cement plants use dust collectors at crushing, raw milling, kiln, clinker cooling, cement milling, conveying and packing points. These locations do not impose the same conditions on a filter bag. Media selection should therefore begin with the actual process data rather than a single general-purpose “cement filter bag” specification.
Record where the bag will be installed and whether the collector handles raw meal, kiln or cooler exhaust, finish-mill dust, transfer-point dust or packing dust. The collection point affects particle loading, temperature, moisture and cleaning requirements.
Temperature alone is not enough to choose polyester, acrylic, aramid, PPS, fiberglass, PTFE or another media. Chemical exposure, moisture and cleaning energy must be reviewed together.
For a replacement project, provide the bag length, flat width or diameter, top construction, bottom construction, seam orientation, cage dimensions and tube-sheet opening. Also state whether the system uses pulse-jet, reverse-air or shaker cleaning. Photographs and an approved drawing reduce the risk of a dimensional mismatch.
Surface treatments such as singeing, calendering, water-and-oil repellency, antistatic construction or a PTFE membrane should be selected for the actual dust and operating conditions. A membrane may support surface filtration in suitable applications, but performance still depends on collector design, air-to-cloth ratio, cleaning settings and sealing.
Share the normal pressure-drop range, cleaning frequency, observed failure mode and service history of the current bags. High differential pressure can result from moisture, blinding, excessive air-to-cloth ratio or ineffective cleaning. Premature wear may point to cage damage, inlet abrasion, installation problems or chemical attack.
A practical inquiry should include the collection point, gas volume, temperature range, dust and gas composition, moisture, current media, cleaning method, bag and cage dimensions, quantity, emission requirement and delivery destination. These details allow the material and construction to be checked before a quotation is confirmed.
